Edinburgh Castle is a must. It抯 the very symbol of Scotland抯 long history as a kingdom in its own right. Probably why the castle is Scotland抯 most visited attraction. Its ramparts allow you stunning panoramic views of the city and surrounding countryside. From the Castle, stroll past 1,000 years or so of history along the Royal Mile connecting Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood House, Queen Elizabeth抯 official Scottish residence. Into theater? Don抰 miss the famous Edinburgh Festival, which begins in late summer and showcases the world抯 hottest fringe, music and dramatic theater. Time for a little retail therapy? Shopping is excellent in Edinburgh. We suggest starting with the high street shops along Prince Street. Looking for a little fresh air? Hike up Arthur抯 Seat with a couple of EF friends. Right in town, it抯 the remains of a volcano that erupted under water 335 million years ago. Bring a picnic lunch!
